Time is Running Out to Grab $1500 Energy Tax Credit!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(WILMINGTON, DE ; October 15, 2010) — Horizon Services, Inc. – the premier plumbing, heating and air conditioning services and equipment installation company serving Delaware, Southeast Pennsylvania and Maryland — reminds all Delaware Valley residents that the U.S. Government’s $1,500 Residential Energy Efficiency Tax Credit is set to expire at the end of the year on December 31, 2010.

The popular tax credit was part of the federal government’s $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, signed into law by President Barack Obama in 2009. The incentive was designed to spur more installations of energy-efficient items such as windows, doors, boilers, furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, water heaters and insulation.

To date, thousands of homeowners nationwide have taken advantage of the tax credit to not only save money on their tax bills, but to reduce their monthly utility costs and to be environmentally-conscious. But for those homeowners who have procrastinated making these energy efficient home improvements, the clock is rapidly ticking.

“We are urging all homeowners who want to qualify for the up to $1,500 in tax credits to come off the sidelines and act now,” said Mark Aitken, co-owner of Horizon Services. “At present, it is highly unlikely that Congress will extend the credits another year, so on December 31 we will probably be saying good-bye to tax credits for quite some time.”

But there’s another reason why time is of the essence.

“It’s not enough to simply purchase your energy-efficient home improvement by December 31,” said Aitken. “Your home improvement needs to be completed, installed and in service by the deadline to qualify. So if you’ve been thinking that you could wait until the last minute to purchase a new furnace or air conditioner or to replace that old water heater and install it next year, guess again. The last minute may be too late.”

In addition to the tax savings, Aitken says that making energy-efficient home improvements offers other benefits.

“Investing in a new, energy-efficient HVAC system — heating or air conditioning — can significantly save homeowners money from day one,” said Aitken. “Heating and cooling equipment prices are at their lowest in years. Manufacturers continue to offer great discounts and rebates. Plus today’s HVAC systems cost much less to heat and cool your home in comparison to those made just 10 years ago. And when you consider that utility rates and fuel costs are expected to rise this winter and in the years ahead, you can’t go wrong by upgrading your heater or air conditioner NOW.”

And what if you do procrastinate? Aitken reminds homeowners that Horizon Services offers next-day installation of HVAC systems in most cases. But in these final weeks, Horizon’s schedule of both sales and installation appointments has been filling up as more homeowners try to slip in under the tax credit deadline.

To avoid the last minute customer surge and to make certain that you don’t get shut out of the tax credits, consumers should call Horizon Services as soon as possible to set up a FREE In-Home Energy Analysis.
