PECO Offers PA Residents Incentives to Get Gas!
Utility Cuts Natural Gas Rates; Offers $200 Rebates for Converting to Gas Heating

(EXTON, PA; March 4, 2009) – PECO Energy is sending a clear message to its Pennsylvania customers that it wants them to convert to energy-efficient natural gas for their home heating needs…and they are taking big steps to make the conversion easier on consumers’ wallets.
On February 25, 2009, PECO Energy announced that it would cut rates by an average of 10% for its 485,000 natural gas customers in Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia suburbs. According to PECO, the average residential heating customer uses about 8,000 cubic feet of gas per month to heat their homes. This rate cut would lower heating costs and gas bills to about $109 per month for the average customer.
If that wasn’t enough, PECO is sweetening the pot even more to get homeowners to consider the benefits of converting to clean, efficient natural gas heating.
The PECO Natural Gas Conversion Rebate/Credit Program offers a $200 rebate to PECO natural gas conversion customers who switch from another heating fuel source and install a natural gas heating system. The program also offers credits toward the installation costs of a PECO natural gas service line.
Homeowners in PECO’s Pennsylvania service area you may be eligible for the following rebates and credits:
- $200 Rebate: Convert from another fuel source and install a natural gas furnace or boiler to make natural gas your primary heating fuel.
- Line Installation Credits: If you currently do not have a natural gas service line, you may be eligible for credits from PECO toward the installation costs of a natural gas service line, for each qualifying natural gas appliance you install in your home.

This rebate and rate cut are in addition to previously announced rebates from PECO that offer rebates up to $300 for the purchase of ENERGY STAR®-qualified, high-efficiency natural gas furnace, boiler or residential water heater.
