Warm The Heart Installs First Furnace of 2009

New Castle, DE Family Benefits from Free Heater Distribution Program

Warm the Heart Installs First Furnace of 2009(WILMINGTON, DE; January 20, 2009) — A New Castle, Delaware family will sleep a little easier this winter thanks to the generosity of others.

For the fourth year in a row, the non-profit organization, Warm The Heart, is giving free replacement furnaces to needy families in New Castle County. One of the 12 families benefiting from the program this year is the Wilson family of New Castle, DE. Today, they were the first Warm The Heart family of 2009 to have their new furnace installed.

For the Wilsons, the new furnace came just in the nick of time. Their home was flooded last year. Several months later, the heating system broke down. With winter setting in, the Wilsons took their case to Warm the Heart, who then stepped in to help.

“2008 wasn’t an easy year for us,” said Charles Wilson. “We’ve been a victim of the economy, layoffs, anything that went wrong in 2008 is kind of represented in this house. So we’re very grateful.”

For Mark Aitken, co-owner of Horizon Services, Inc., the company that installed the Wilson’s furnace, helping a family in need is just part of being a good corporate citizen and member of the community.

“Nobody wants to see their neighbors suffer without heat through a cold winter,” said Aitken. “For us, there’s no greater feeling than to lend a helping hand to a deserving family and change the quality of their lives for the better.”

Warm The Heart will install eleven more furnaces in homes throughout New Castle County, DE this winter alone.

Financial support for Warm The Heart comes from Delmarva Power, Valero, Trane and Horizon Services.
